From an institutional website to a digital ecosystem for citizens
Six years of continuous evolution, integrating content, municipal services and management tools into a clearer, more modern and secure digital experience.
Context
The Municipality of Ensenada originally had an institutional website built on WordPress that had gradually become outdated both visually and functionally. For almost six years, we have supported its digital evolution, working together with different municipal departments and Ensenada's IT team to progressively transform the website into a central access point for information and digital services for citizens.
Problem
The original platform was designed primarily as a traditional institutional website and no longer reflected the growth of the municipality's digital services. The challenge was to modernize the experience, make municipal information and services easier to access, simplify internal content publishing and allow new digital tools to be incorporated without continuously replacing the entire platform.
What we did
We approached the project as a progressive evolution rather than a disruptive migration. Together with the municipality's IT department, we integrated different digital services while developing tools that allowed departments such as Press and Ceremonial to independently manage news and institutional content. The platform also incorporated access to public institutional information, including municipal expenditure reports. We continue to work on the platform today. The latest stage included a complete redesign of the homepage, and we are currently extending the new visual and user experience system across the rest of the website.
Architecture / solution
The solution evolved from a traditional institutional website into a web platform connected to multiple municipal systems and information sources. Its architecture allows the platform to evolve progressively, adding new sections, services and integrations without disrupting existing operations. The project combines web development, content management, integration with internal systems and an ongoing security and maintenance layer coordinated with the municipality's technical team.
